I loved my entire experience at Bellevue University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Project Management, so it's hard to narrow down just one thing as the best part for me. I was in the accelerated online program, so I was very involved with the other students in my cohort as well as my professors. I was able to lean on the other students in my cohort a lot and are still in touch with several of them despite them being in other states. My coworkers and boss were also incredibly supportive of my decision to get my degree. Their support and kind words helped me get on the Dean's List, and graduate with honors.
I am able to apply much of what I learned at Bellevue University to my current role at Blue Cross Blue Shield Nebraska, whether it is Crucial Conversations, Crucial Accountability, tracking projects/updates through from conception to implementation, or how to better improve current processes within my team and department. Part of my current job involves working closely with clients, so a lot of what I learned helps me mitigate tough conversations and retain client business which in turn helps BCBSNE.
My co-workers, leaders and even friends and family have told me they have seen an increase in confidence both professionally and personally, as well as growth in how I look at perceived challenges. Before I would be more likely to take situations as they came, now I am able to better advocate for myself and my clients.
Participating in the Bellevue University Project Management program has given me the confidence to pursue my career at BCBSNE. Having an amazing tuition reimbursement package was a key factor in me finally making the decision to invest in myself, and my career. My manager and director could not have been any more supportive of me and my decision to earn my degree.
I know several other BCBSNE employees that completed their degree in Project Management at Bellevue University. They all had great things to say about the classes that were offered, and some have gone on to pursue a master's at Bellevue University as well. While it was a lot of fast-paced, hard work, it was 100% worth it, and I would do it over again in a heartbeat.
